DFRobot寓意为Robot Dream Factory ，希望能创造出梦想中的机器人。DFRobot公司于2008年11月在北京成立，并于2010年和2011年分别在上海和成都成立了子公司。2012年，公司总部迁移至上海。
   在发展早期，DFRobot专注于机器人产品的开发，通过自主研发和代理的方式，将最新的机器人零部件介绍给国内的高校和机器人爱好者。公司于2009年涉足开源硬件，也是国内最早正式将Arduino引入中国的公司。经过4年多的快速发展，DFRobot已开发出超过600多种机器人和开源硬件的相关产品，DFRobot这个品牌也已经成为全球开源硬件、机器人产品的领导品牌。

 DFRobot means Robot Dream Factory, hoping to create the robot of dreams. DFRobot was established in Beijing in November 2008, and established subsidiaries in Shanghai and Chengdu in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In 2012, the company headquarters moved to Shanghai.

   In the early stage of development, DFRobot focused on the development of robot products, and introduced the latest robot parts to domestic universities and robot enthusiasts through independent research and development and agency methods. The company set foot in open source hardware in 2009 and was also the first company in China to officially introduce Arduino to China. After more than 4 years of rapid development, DFRobot has developed more than 600 kinds of robots and open source hardware related products. The DFRobot brand has also become the world's leading brand of open source hardware and robotics products.
